Healthcare Learning Innovations announces the launch of Sentinel City Community Health Simulation 2.3 for the community and public health nursing education industry. Sentinel City is the nursing education industry’s leading fully digital educational simulation for community health. It is an immersive online city environment providing nursing students the ability to complete windshield surveys and many other assignments digitally, while also earning practice experience/simulated learning clinical hours. Sentinel City is an easy-to-implement teaching tool for community and public health course faculty, and is aligned with QSEN and NLN core competencies, as well as AACN BSN Essentials.

Jeffrey Caplan, President of Healthcare Learning Innovations, says “exciting Sentinel City 2.3 simulation enhancements benefit both faculty and students with lesson plans that include grading rubrics and customizable sample assignments.” Sentinel City Community Health Simulation 2.3 is more robust than previous versions, with capabilities and features including:

  • Faculty dashboard with key data on student participation and activity within the simulation
  • Two full lesson plans with grading rubrics for easy faculty implementation
  • 16 fully customizable sample assignments
  • Cutting-edge immersive simulation technology enhances learning experience and skill retention
  • Digital map provides quick access to any part of the city
  • 12 interactive locations provide deep demographic information for enriching assignments

“Faculty will enjoy the new administration portal which measures and displays student activity in an easy-to-view dashboard. Students will save time with the new interactive map enabling easy movement anywhere in the simulation with the click of a button,” says Caplan. A client faculty member from American Sentinel University states, “this type of virtual experience feels more realistic, allowing students to get off the bus and walk around, experiencing the city almost as they would in real-life.”

Sentinel City is being used in RN to BSN community health courses at American Sentinel University, as well as a growing list of other clients across the U.S. Sentinel City Community Health Simulation simplifies assignment creation and assessment, saving time for faculty, while creating an immersive, safe and convenient learning environment for students.
